About Cynthia:

Licensed Talkspace Therapist, Cynthia Catchings, LCSW-S, CFTP, CLYL, CMHIMP, CMS, CRS, LALF, EMDR is a Virginia and Texas trilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience in the mental health profession. In addition to her work at Talkspace, she is the Executive Director at the Women’s Emotional Wellness Center in the DC metro area and Texas, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas RGV, School of Social Work. Cynthia is very passionate about mental health and law enforcement families issues.

Educational Information

Cynthia is pursuing a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies: Counseling and Family and Marriage Therapy, and has a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Texas-RGV. She also studied psychology/French at the University of Bordeaux, France, and has a B.A. in psychology/French from the University of Texas. Her focus is Family violence and law enforcement families/stressors.

Experience

Cynthia has over 15 years of clinical experience in the mental health field. As president of the National Association of Social Workers in DC, she commits to serving those in need and to represent her colleagues. Her areas of expertise are family violence, law enforcement family issues, and stress disorders. Cynthia has conducted mental health research in over 40 counties.
