FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your first step toward finding help or a potential prescription is filling out a quick assessment. Based on your answers, we’ll match you with a psychiatrist to have your first live video session and discuss what you’re feeling. They’ll prescribe a treatment plan based on their evaluation of your symptoms and if that includes a prescription for Strattera, you can pick it up from a local pharmacy.

Strattera (Atomoxetine) is usually taken 1-2 times a day in tablet form. However, you should always consult with a psychiatrist and follow a prescribed treatment plan for the recommended form, dosage, and frequency.

Strattera and its generic form, Atomoxetine, should be taken exactly as prescribed by your clinician. Common side effects of Strattera are often mild, but can include heartburn, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, fatigue, constipation, mood swings, decreased sex drive, and more. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience adverse effects like pounding heartbeat, chest pains, dizziness, slow or difficult speech, shortness of breath, suicidal thoughts, arm or leg pain, hives, rash, yellowing skin, flu-like symptoms, and more.

For some people, Strattera can be better tolerated than Adderall in treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or other attention disorders. Both medications have been found to be fairly similar in efficacy, although they’re very different types of drugs.

Strattera is not a stimulant like Adderall. Strattera is in the class of drugs known as norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (NRIs) and has much less chance of abuse.

Strattera is a non-stimulant medication that increases norepinephrine levels in the brain. It can help treat your ADHD by reducing hyperactivity, distractibility, and impulsive behavior and increasing attention span.

While not intended to treat mood, some studies have found that the drug may have some antidepressant properties and be beneficial in treating some symptoms of depression in people who have ADHD. However, Strattera can have a side effect of suicidal thoughts in some children and adolescents.

There are several different medications your psychiatrist may prescribe for ADHD.
